CNBC picks: UAUA, JBLU, AMR

CNBC keeps talking about United, American, and jetBlue as good stocks right now. I don’t buy it, but they are increasing over the past week. Maybe the airlines got it right, finally?

US Airways, AA slash jobs

US Airways will cut 1,000 employees and American will cut 700. Both carriers say poor economic conditions and a slow 2010 forecast as the reasons why.

American plans to close a maintenance base in Kansas City and US Airways plans to cut ramp, customer service, and flight attendant jobs. US Airways plans to focus their flying on the CLT, PHL, DCA, and PHX hubs and cut any point to point flying.
